Troubleshooting 2006 Bombardier Outlander Max Series ATVs
If you are experiencing low or no oil pressure or high oil consumption in your 2006 Bombardier Outlander Max Series ATV, follow these steps to troubleshoot and address the issue:
Normal Use
Before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps, ensure that the ATV has been used under normal operating conditions.
Test/Inspection

Check oil orifice on the oil pump suction side.
- a. Oil orifice is clogged. Clean from contamination. Replace oil and oil filter if necessary (refer to MAINTENANCE or LUBRICATION SYSTEM).

Check oil pump function.
- a. Oil pump rotor is out of wear limit. Replace oil pump (refer to LUBRICATION SYSTEM).
- b. Oil pump seized due to oil leakage and/or air inclusion. Replace oil pump.
- c. Gears driving oil pump are broken or otherwise damaged. Replace gears.
- d. Incorrect oil being used. Use high quality oil (refer to TECHNICAL DATA).

Check oil pressure regulator valve function.
- a. Valve spring damaged. Replace spring.
- b. Valve piston is worn or broken. Replace valve piston (refer to LUBRICATION SYSTEM).
- c. Valve piston stays open due to contamination. Clean or repair valve piston.

Check plain bearings in crankcase for heavy wear.
- a. Plain bearings out of specification. Replace plain bearings.

Check engine oil strainer in crankcase.
- a. Oil strainer is clogged due to contamination. Clean or replace strainer and diagnose causes. Replace possible damaged parts.
