Verifying Magneto Flywheel Timing for Electrical System on 2006 Ski-Doo REV Snowmobiles

When it comes to the electrical system of the 2006 Ski-Doo REV snowmobiles, it's crucial to ensure the magneto flywheel timing is accurate. This is necessary to avoid issues related to timing changes and breakdowns. Here's how you can verify the position of the timing mark on the magneto flywheel for your snowmobile.

Mark Position

Prior to checking the timing, it may be necessary to verify the position of the timing mark on the magneto flywheel for various reasons such as detecting missing or broken magneto flywheel Woodruff key, locating and marking a timing mark on a new service magneto flywheel, or verifying the correct location of the factory timing mark.

To verify the position of the timing mark, follow the steps below:

  1. Clean the area around the spark plugs and remove them.
  2. Remove the rewind starter from the engine.
  3. Install the TDC gauge in the spark plug hole and adjust it as necessary.
  4. Locate the piston TDC position carefully.
  5. Verify the position of the timing mark on the magneto flywheel by carefully following the specified measurement.

Note that certain procedures require the magneto flywheel to be turned in a specific direction. If the marks do not align, checking magneto flywheel and trigger coil part numbers and the Woodruff key condition is essential before continuing the procedure.

Assembling the gauge to the adaptor and tightening the roller lock nut are the final steps in the process.
