Engine 2004 Bombardier DS650/DS650 Baja/DS650 Baja X ATVs

The 2004 Bombardier DS650 and its variants, DS650 Baja and DS650 Baja X, boast powerful engines ideal for off-road adventures. However, users may encounter issues related to high engine operating temperature and the magneto system during normal use.

High Engine Operating Temperature

Check the coolant drain screw on the water pump housing. If the copper ring on the drain screw leaks, retighten the screw and/or replace the copper gasket ring.
Inspect the intermediate gear behind the magneto cover. If it's worn out or broken, it can cause a reduced coolant supply. Replace the gear if necessary.

Magneto System

Test and inspect the following components of the magneto system:

  • Spark plug electrode condition
  • Ignition coils for damage and/or electrical failure
  • Wire harness for cracks or other damages
  • Magneto for damage and/or electrical failure
  • Electronic module
  • Engine stop switch position

Follow the recommended actions for each inspection to ensure the proper functioning of the magneto system.
