NOTE: Before proceeding, ensure the engine is removed to access the water pump effectively.

NOTE: A crucial aspect to check is the bleed hole situated in the crankcase beneath the water pump housing. Any signs of coolant leakage from this point indicate the need to replace the water pump seals. During the water pump servicing, it is imperative to utilize the Water Pump Bearing and Seal Tool Kit for precision.

  1. Begin by carefully removing the cap screws that secure the water pump cover. Once the cover is detached, ensure to keep track of the O-ring seal for reassembly.
  2. Next, focus on removing either of the lower union cap screws that secure the lower check valve assembly. Following this, remove the two cap screws holding the oil-injection pump in place. Gently pull the oil pump from the engine, ensuring to leave the pump hose and cable attached for convenience.
  3. Now, proceed to remove the cap screw securing the impeller. Take note of the rubber washer positioned behind the cap screw for proper reinstallation.
  4. To remove the impeller from the shaft, apply steady pressure. If the impeller proves stubborn, initiate the cap screw into the shaft and gently tap it to drive the shaft out of the impeller.
  5. Shift your attention to the opposite side of the crankcase, where you'll find the oil-injection pump retainer and shaft. Carefully remove them, ensuring to account for the thrust washer located between the retainer and shaft flange.
  6. Utilize a long seal driver to effectively drive the water pump mechanical seal from the crankcase, ensuring a smooth extraction process.
  7. With a pair of snap ring pliers, meticulously remove the snap ring securing the inner seal within the crankcase.
  8. Finally, using the hooked end of the long seal driver, delicately extract the inner seal from the crankcase, exercising caution to avoid any damage.
