Engine Troubleshooting Guide 2005, 2006, 2007 Bombardier Rally 200 ATVs

If your Bombardier Rally 200 ATV is experiencing engine problems such as no spark or low/no oil pressure, these troubleshooting steps can help you identify and address the issues.

No Spark

When dealing with no spark issues, you should check the wire harness for cracks or other damages. If the harness shows electrical failure and/or damages, it needs to be replaced. Additionally, inspect the magneto for damage or electrical failure. You may need to replace the woodruff key if the radial position of the rotor is incorrect due to a broken key. Cleaning and repairing connectors on the magneto can also be necessary. Also, check the electronic module for electrical failure or damages, corroded connectors, and bad ground to the vehicle frame.

Lubrication Issues

For low or no oil pressure as well as high oil consumption, there are several checks and actions to consider. Start by checking the oil level and looking for leaks on the crankcase or defective sealing ports. Any identified leaks due to damage or loose screws should be addressed immediately. Replace any brittle, hard, or damaged sealing rings, O-rings, gaskets, or worn-out piston rings. Contaminated oil filters need to be replaced along with using high-quality oil. Inspect the oil pressure regulator valve and all related components for any damage, contamination, or malfunction. Ensure that the oil drain plug and oil strainer screw on the engine bottom are securely fastened and in good condition. Leaking oil from the indicator hole may indicate a need to replace oil seals and O-rings. Also, check the oil pressure switch and clean or replace the oil orifice on the oil pump suction side if it's clogged.

Conclusion

Regular maintenance and timely troubleshooting can help keep your Bombardier Rally 200 ATV's engine in top condition. By following these troubleshooting steps, you can address common issues related to no spark, low or no oil pressure, and high oil consumption, ensuring a reliable and well-performing engine.
