ADC Differential Hydraulic Circuit Fluid Change

2008 Polaris Sportsman Touring 500 H.O. ATVs - ADC Differential Hydraulic Circuit Fluid Change

Regular maintenance of your ATV's hydraulic system is crucial for optimal performance. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to change the hydraulic fluid in the ADC (Active Descent Control) differential circuit of your 2008 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI/X2/Touring/500 H.O ATV.

  1. Make sure the vehicle is parked on flat ground and allowed to sit at least 30 minutes prior to bleeding the hydraulic circuit.
  2. Thoroughly clean the area around and on the remote reservoir and bleeder valves to prevent contamination.
  3. Remove the reservoir cap and diaphragm assembly.
  4. Ensure that the hydraulic oil inside the reservoir is free of debris. If any debris is found, use a clean rag or suction device to remove it.
  5. Fill the reservoir to the 'MAX' line with clean Polaris ADC hydraulic fluid to begin the bleeding process.
  6. Locate the bleeder valves on either side of the differential and remove the protective caps.
  7. Turn the bleeder valves counter-clockwise to loosen them. Slowly loosen the bleeder screw, allowing oil and any trapped air to flow out.
  8. Be cautious not to let the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir drain below the minimum fill line. Close the bleeder valve before the oil level falls below the minimum fill line to prevent air pockets from becoming trapped.
  9. Continue the bleeding process on both sides in sequence until clean fluid is seen when bleeding occurs.
  10. Re-torque both bleeder valves to specification and reinstall the cover caps. The torque specification for the bleeder valve is 80 in. lbs. (9 Nm).
  11. Fill the reservoir to a level midway between the 'MAX' and 'MIN' fill lines. Verify that no debris is found in the reservoir oil.
  12. Replace the reservoir cap securely and wipe clean any residue for a tidy finish.

Regular maintenance is key to keeping your ATV running smoothly. Follow these steps to ensure your ADC differential hydraulic circuit fluid is properly changed.
