INITIAL ENGAGEMENT AND CLUTCH LOCK-UP INSPECTION
The LT-F300/LT-F300F is equipped with a centrifugal type automatic clutch. To ensure proper performance and longevity of the clutch assemblies, it is essential that the clutches engage smoothly and gradually. Two inspection checks must be performed to thoroughly check the operation of the drive train. Follow the procedures listed.
NOTE:
- Before checking the initial engagement and clutch lock-up, check the oil level.
- Warm up the engine.
INITIAL ENGAGEMENT INSPECTION
- Connect tachometer onto a spark plug lead.
- Start the engine.
- Shift the sUb-transmission lever to the "High" position and then shift the gearshift lever to the "Low" position.
- While seated on the machine, slowly increase the engine speed and record the speed (r/min) when the machine begins to move forward.
- Engagement speed (r/min)
- Standard: 1,900 r/min
- Tolerance: +/- 200 r/min
If the engagement speed does not coincide with the standard range, inspect the following items for any abnormality.
CLUTCH LOCK-UP INSPECTION
- Perform this inspection to determine if the clutch is engaging fully and not slipping.
- Connect a tachometer.
- Start the engine.
- Shift the sUb-transmission lever to the "High" position and then shift the gearshift lever to the "Low" position.
- Apply the front and rear brakes as firmly as possible.
- Fully open the throttle for a brief period and note the maximum engine speed sustained during the test cycle.
- Lock-up speed (r/min)
- Standard: 3,400 r/min
- Tolerance: +/- 300 r/min
CAUTION: Do not apply full power for more than 10 seconds or damage to the clutch or engine may occur.
